Welcome back. Today I sent a letter home in your Wednesday packets. Welcome parents if you are reading this. I hope you and your child will take advantage of the blog. I am working hard, and will continue to work harder to make this blog and my companion website at a place where your student can get up to date study information.
I have recently posted yesterday's math notes on the website along with a Geometry Millionaire game. This game is a great way to study for upcoming quizzes and tests. Please be aware that there may be a quiz tomorrow or Friday. Mr. Ollis has stressed that studying math journals is as important as studying science notes.
Today we discussed polygons in math class. Tonite I will update the math page of the website at to include todays notes. We discussed what each polygon was named and the number of sides that each polygon has. The class was broken into small groups and the groups used a geoboard and a rubber band to construct the different shapes.
Today in writing we began our stories. Remember that your story is due tomorrow. We will be chosing a few of the stories that are submitted for students to read during the Forum time on Friday so make your story stand out. Remember to "show not tell." Walking around the classroom I was looking at some of your story maps and I expect that there will be many good stories.
In Science today we did not get around to our notes again. Remember your science test went home in your Wednesday packet today. You are to return the science test signed tomorrow unless you want detention. However, you may keep it for corrections if you bring a note from a parent stating this. You may leave this test in your packet and Mr. Ollis will get it from your homeroom teacher during specails time. Again it is important to get your corrections completed. If you have forgotten the procedure you may look at yesterday's blog entry for instructions.
Mr Ollis's Class Homework was as follows:
Reading: Newspaper Project
Math: Study Geometry Terms (Great Study resources on my website)
Writing: Finish your Messy Room Story it is due to tomorrow!!
Spelling: Remember your vocabulary contract is due on Friday, and you will have a test on Friday.
Science: Get your test signed and return. Also, if you have corrections get to work on them, these are due no later than Friday. If you are doing corrections make sure to have a note from a parent to avoid detention.
Social Studies: Remember you have a test on 8/26 make sure that you are studying!
Also, be reading AR in order to meet your goal. Today's book recommendation is The Secret Garden.
Until Tomorrow
~Mrs. Noe
